General Information - 14 July

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has issued a reminder on
their policy positions on trade and environment in the context of the
Doha Development Agenda.
We (the Wesvaal Chamber of Business) include this for your information
whilst endorsing the ICC's encouragement for individuals to bring these
ICC positions to the attention of government officials, and of your colleagues
within companies and business organizations, as appropriate.
In the lead-up to the 5th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization
(WTO) to be held in Cancún (Mexico), 10-14 September 2003, please
find attached a note (document
103-42/10, 3 pages) to remind members and national committees of ICC
policy positions on trade and environment issues that are the subject
of negotiations in the context of the Doha Development Agenda.
The full texts of the relevant ICC policy statements are attached at
the bottom of this message for easy reference. These are:
Amendment of Tariff and Charges for Civil Engineering Related
Services to provide for the levying of a Sidewalk Deposit with Building
Plans to ensure that sidewalks, and other council property, are cleaned
after completion of Building Projects
The Klerksdorp City Council gives notice in terms of the provisions of
Section 80B(3) of the Local Government Ordinace, 1939 as amended and read
with Section 75A of the Local Government, Municipal Systems Act 2000,
that it is the intention of the City Council to amend the Tariffs and
Charges for Civil Engineering related Services to provide for the above
mentioned levy, with effect from 1 August 2003.
A copy of the resolution will lie for inspecton at Room 111, Civic Centre,
Klerksdorp during office hours for a period of Fourteen(14) Days counted
from 3 July 2003.
Any person who has any objection to the amendment must lodge his objection
in writing to TZ Mokhatla, Municipal Manager, within Fourteen(14) Days
counted from 3 July 2003.
